The Beto glow is back!

Beto O'Rourke has officially put his hat in the race for the 2020 U.S. Presidential election. The charismatic former Texas congressman formally announced his bid for President of the United States of America on social media Thursday (March 14).

"Amy and I are happy to share with you that I’m running to serve you as the next president of the United States of America," he said in a video as he sat beside his wife. "This is a defining moment of truth for this country and for every single one of us. The challenges we face right now, the interconnected crises in our democracy and our climate, have never been greater."

"They will either consume us, or they will afford us the greatest opportunity to unleash the genius of the United States of America," O'Rourke added.

The 46-year-old presidential nominee joins democrats Kamala Harris, Bernie, Sanders, Elizabeth Warren,Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, John Delaney, Tulsi Gabbard,Kirsten Gillibrand, Andrew Yang, Amy Klobuchar, Jay Inslee, John Hickenlooper, Marianne Williamson, and Julian Castro, who are running in one of the largest democratic presidential fields in history.

O'Rourke gained popularity when he nearly defeated incumbent Republican Senator Ted Cruz in the country's largest red state, Texas, in 2018. The Columbia University graduate, who was initially considered the "long shot" candidate, set fundraising records with his campaign for Senate — despite pledging not to accept PAC contributions — raising $38 million, the most raised in a U.S. Senate race in history. O'Rourke also became known for his impressive social media presence, which he attained by staying connected to his millions of followers every single day. O'Rourke's large backing throughout the U.S. paired with his strong performance in the Senate race, led many to believe he would carry that momentum into the 2020 presidential race.
