Prince's Brother Reacts To Justin Timberlake's Super Bowl Halftime Tribute

Justin Timberlake's tribute to Prince during his Super Bowl LII halftime show divided audiences, but it seems like the late pop icon's half-brother, Omarr Baker, was happy with JT's spectacle on Sunday night (February 4).

After sharing a no entry sign emoji to the hashtag #PrinceHologram via Twitter on Saturday, Baker's tune appeared to change after JT's 11-song set. Shortly after the performance, he hopped back on the social media platform to share a thumbs up emoji in response to a fan, who called Timberlake's duet of "I Would Die 4 U" "a beautiful tribute." Nonetheless, it should be noted that Baker was born to Prince's mother Mattie during her marriage to Hayward Baker after she split from Prince's father. No word exists of a close relationship between the Purple Wonder and Baker.

After the championship game, which saw the Eagles overtake the Patriots at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, JT appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and spoke about the homage to Prince.

"It's a moment for me, and if I'm being quite honest, it's because he's always been the pinnacle of musicianship," Timberlake said of the tribute via Billboard. "And when we decided that the serendipity and synergy [of being] in Minnesota — he's such a special thing here aside from what he is all over the world. I just felt like I wanted to do something for this city and something for him that would just be the ultimate homage to what I consider the GOAT [Greatest of All Time] of musicians."
